National Coordinating Committee for Multiemployer Plans (NCCMP)

The NCCMP works specifically with multiemployer plans, developing research, support and training.

 

National Association of State Retirement Administrators (NASRA)

NASRA is a non-profit association whose members are the directors of the nations state, territorial and largest statewide public retirement systems. NASRA members oversee retirement systems that hold more than $2 trillion in assets and that provide pension and other benefits to more than two-thirds of all state and local government employees.

 

National Labor College (NLC)

The National Labor College, located at the George Meany Center for Labor Studies, offers trustee education programs.

 

Shareholder Activism/Proxy Voting Resources & Organizations

Executive PayWatch

The AFL-CIOs Executive PayWatch website gives workers and investors information on executive pay in major companies. It includes how-to materials on challenging runaway executive pay.

 

Council of Institutional Investors (CII)

The Council of Institutional Investors is an organization of large, public Taft-Hartley and corporate pension funds that seeks to address investment issues affecting the size or security of plan assets. Its objectives are to encourage member funds, as major shareholders, to take an active role in protecting plan assets and to help members increase return on their investments as part of their fiduciary obligations.

 

Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR)

The ICCR is a leader of the corporate social responsibility movement. Each year religious institutional investors who are members of ICCR sponsor more than 100 shareholder resolutions on social and environmental issues. This site includes sample language for such shareholder resolutions.

 

The Social Investment Forum (SIF)

The SIF serves as a clearinghouse of information and analysis to the socially responsible investing community on shareholder advocacy and seeks to link institutional investors and financial advisers with faith-based, social justice, labor and environmental organizations to encourage greater corporate responsibility.

 

The Corporate Library (TCL)

TCL is intended to serve as a central repository for research, study and critical thinking about the nature of the modern global corporation, with a special focus on corporate governance and the relationship between company management, boards and shareowners.

 

Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS)

ISS is the world’s leading provider of proxy voting and corporate governance solutions to the institutional marketplace. ISS analyzes proxies and issues informed impartial research and objective vote recommendations for more than 35,000 companies across 115 markets worldwide.

 

Economic Policy & Research

Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR)

CEPR conducts research and education on major economic and social issues and presents information that is accessible to the general public, including information on privatization proposals for Social Security.

 

Economic Policy Institute (EPI)

EPI conducts economic research and policy analysis. EPI is a labor-friendly organization.

 

International Organizations

International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN)

ICGN is a non-profit association that promotes good corporate governance by providing an investor-led network for the exchange of views and information about corporate governance issues internationally, examining corporate governance principles and practices and developing and encouraging adherence to corporate governance standards and guidelines.

 

Committee on Workers’ Capital (CWC)

The CWC brings together representatives of the international labor movement to share information and develop strategies for joint action in the field of workers’ capital, including such areas as pension trustee education, corporate and financial market governance, shareholder activism and economically targeted investment.

 

Shareholder Association for Research and Education (SHARE)

SHARE is a Canadian not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving institutional investment practices that protect the long-term interests of pension plan members, beneficiaries and society in general.
